ABOUT WOOD CUTS MUSIC PRODUCTION

With a growing list of happy and returning artists (see below), Wood Cuts has been producing recordings in CT since 2006.

Producer, Greg Wood began as a performer, touring the world in numerous projects and bands. Among these was Punchline (Fueled By Ramen Records: Paramore, Gym Class Heroes, Fall Out Boy). During his tenure with the band, Punchline saw audience and critical acclaim for the album Greg co-wrote, “37 Everywhere” (5 stars, Alternative Press), and their music appeared on television, video games, and MTV Japan.

As a producer with a background in performing, Greg seeks to find blossoming talent and put to use all he’s learned in dozens of studio sessions, including with platinum-selling producers, to help other young artists realize the best sonic experience possible for their recordings, immortalize the best possible versions of their songs, and make an impact with fans seeking quality listening experiences.

Greg specializes in helping songwriters realize the full potential of their songs.

He works with artists on song forms, content, lyrics, chorus prominence, melody and harmony options, and the addition of string and other arrangements to bring a full, pro sound to songs, no matter their stage of completion at a project’s beginning (and no matter whether the songwriter has ever played the songs with a band yet). Special attention is paid to “listening to and honoring the song trying to come out.”

THE PROCESS & THE PRICE

The process usually begins in Greg’s home studio, where demos of songs are created. This “pre-production” gives the artist an early idea of what the finished product will sound like before bigger studio money is spent, and is the time during which arrangements (such as for strings) can be composed and tried out.

Greg is a Berklee trained musician and will play any and all instruments required in both the demo and final recording processes at no extra cost to the artist.

The studio process itself takes place at one of a few top-notch CT area recording studios with CT’s most talented engineers.
